Business directory platform for local SMBs
The problem. Local businesses had no self-service way to get discovered online: no platform let them list services and photos, or be found by category or city.
What I built. A self-service directory, solo, end to end. Business owners register and build a public profile; customers search and filter by name, category, or city. Later returned to audit the codebase and propose a phased registration redesign aimed at improving profile completion rates.
A decision worth noting. Business profiles use embedded documents rather than relational references, so a full profile reads in a single query, and public URLs are generated automatically with collision-safe suffixes so business owners never touch a slug field themselves.
The outcome. Shipped and running in production. ~4.5 months, solo build.
